Degrassi Filmography, 1991-2000, compiled by Mark Aaron Polger, Updated August 2000
Miscellaneous Programs on CBC
1999 - CBC's Jonovision hosted a 2-part Degrassi Reunion Special last December. Featured guests included the actors who played Kathleen, Mya, Yick, Dwayne, Mr. Raditch, Ms. Avery, Liz, Spike, Joey, Snake, Stephanie Kaye, Shane, and BLT. The Degrassi special was Jonovision's most highly anticipated and heaviest attended taping ever. Since Jonovsion, the Degrassi actors have enjoyed steady demand for talk show appearances and newspapers interviews.
A fun note: The Degrassi series
never really went "out of style". A second generation of teens joined
the die-hard twentysomething enthusiasts as they discovered the program through
syndication and home video. Unlike other 1980s teen dramas that now seem silly
and "dated", Degrassi's complex storylines and controversial subject
matter remained relevant. In fact, many young viewers were surprised to learn
that their favorite "kids" are now in their mid-late twenties!
However, perhaps Degrassi's most groundbreaking achievement was giving Canadian
youth their own identify. A chance to break free from the stereotypes and
glamorization of teens depicted in the American media.
